About 138 prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have contracted the ravaging coronavirus.
This was made known by the Director-General of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the body in charge of monitoring and controlling infectious diseases in Nigeria.
He revealed that safe reopening of the NYSC orientation camp has so far been successful, adding that none of the prospective corps members that tested positive were allowed to set foot on the camp.
”A total of 34,785 corps members and members of the camp communities have been tested so far in the last weeks of which only 138 was found positive, which is 0.4 percent prevalence and 1 in 200 people.” he said
He added that some that tested positive were allowed to receive treatments at home while others were taken to the center, depending on the stage of their infection.
