ASUU Reveals Further Condition For Resumption

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said the current strike embarked upon by the union will not be called off until the government pays all withheld salaries of its members.

Biodun Ogunyemi, the President of ASUU made this known in a phone interview with The Punch.

He said the lecturers should not be expected to resume till the government pays all salary being withheld.

It should be recalled that following meetings between representatives of the Federal Government and ASUU, there were reports that the Union would suspend the strike as the FG was ready to release the sum of 70 billion Naira.

But Ogunyemi revealed members of the union are still making consultations while waiting for the government to fulfill its promise of releasing the withheld allowance.
