One of Chelsea player, Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly tested positive to the widespread coronavirus.
As a result of this, all Chelsea personnel who recently had a close contact with Callum, including players in the men’s team building will need to self-isolate in line with the government’s health guidelines.
Callum’s diagnosis is coming a few hours after Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta was tested positive to coronavirus.
Those that did not have close contact with Callum are expected to return back to work in coming days but the men’s team building will remain closed.
According to a report posted on Chelsea FC’s website, before the confirmation, Callum displayed symptoms similar to mild cold and had been absent from the training ground as a precaution.
“Callum displayed symptoms similar to a mild cold on Monday morning and has not been at the training ground since then as a precaution.
“However, his test came in positive this evening and he will undergo a period of self-isolation. Despite testing positive for the virus, Callum is doing well and looking forward to returning to the training ground as soon as it is possible.”
The club assures it is committed to adhering to government and public health guidelines.
“We will continue to adhere to Government and Public Health Guidelines with regard to our facilities and staff and will be discussing next steps with regards to upcoming fixtures with the Premier League on Friday morning. We will provide further updates as necessary via the club’s website.
“We wish Callum a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the club soon.
