It was indeed a black Thursday on the 22nd of April 2010 when the news of DaGrin’s death spread like wildfire in harmattan.
Some simply believed it was not possible that a young man loaded with great talent could be gone when he was just reaching the height of his glory.
But that is life, we didn’t decide when to be born and we have no say about when to die.
Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun was born on the 21st of October 1987 in Ogun state, south-west Nigeria and died on the 22nd of April in Mushin, Lagos Nigeria.
Da Grin, who had a budding career with thousands, if not millions of devoted fans all over the country died in a ghastly car accident
Before his unfortunate death, DaGrin was a multiple award-winning rapper with laurels to his name.
Dagrin’s style of music was unique. He was the pioneer of indigenous language rap music, the path Olamide and others are towing gracefully today.
Indeed, we miss DaGrin, but we are grateful for his life, his legacy and the beautiful music he left behind.
