Werner Will Not Play in the Champions League for Leipzig

RB Leipzig player, Timo Werner will not be playing for the German club in the UEFA Champions League rescheduled matches ahead of his expected transfer to Chelsea football club for fifty million pounds (£50m).

He informed the club’s hierarchy that he does not want to play again for the club after their remaining three bundesliga’s matches, so as to settle with his new teammates at Chelsea before the start to the new season.

Having scored 25 bundesliga goals this season for the club, Timo Werner will not take part in the rescheduled champions league matches.

RB Leipzig have qualified for the quarter finals of the tournament after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 4:0 on aggregate before the pandemic.

Timo Werner have been of interest to Liverpool (who many believe will sign the striker) and Manchester United before they extend the loan deal for Ighalo.

The player is expected to be unveiled as a Chelsea player in the middle of July before taking two to four weeks break before the new season commences, according to Sky Germany.
